The department enhances the knowledge on the disease manifestations, as well as methods of clinical examination for the fourth year students, while the fifth year students receive lectures on the most important diseases of the urinary system from infections and tumors, with a focus on ways to detect the disease and the necessary examinations and radiology, as well as ways to address the treatment of diseases, the department professors also give practical courses using real patients, thus covering all key aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the urinary system.
In the sixth year the student spends a full week in the department as per an agenda prepared in advance, where he is exposed to all needed information, whether through the examination of patients or through accompanying the professors at the anesthesia department or the clinics and surgeries.
As for the graduate students, the department has been receiving for many years doctors from the Saudi Council for Health Specialties for a period of 3 to 6 months, from all hospitals in the Kingdom and in multiple disciplines, the department receives trainees to obtain fellowship in the Saudi Arabian Association of Urology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology.
The doctors work in the department and are assigned to perform all acts. They are given opportunities to operate and make endoscopies under the supervision of professors, prepare lectures on scientific activities and scientific research in the department.
